The Island
Boyovu island is situated on Lake Victoria in Uganda. There are no cars or electricity, only solar power. Access to the island is by means of two boats that come to the Island. One of these is a cargo boat that's goes from shore Monday and Friday around 12:00 noon. The price 20,000 Ugandan Shillings and not luxurious meaning it can be uncomfortable. The other boat is a high speed passenger boat that has recently started operating. At the moment it travels to the island on Tuesdays and Thursdays around 12:00 noon from shore. The price is 35,000 Ugandan Shillings and a comfortable ride.
Both boats depart for the island from Kasenyi. Kasenyi is about 15 to 20 minutes by taxi from airport. The taxi cost approximately 70,000 Ugandan Shillings ($ 20).
Prices
The large cottage price is 80,000 Ugandan Shillings per night ($24) and is fully equipped.
The small cottages are 35,000 per night ($10) and have a double bed, two chairs and a table.
There is a separate building with two toilets and showers close to the small cottages.
Between the small cottages there is a outside kitchen where our guests can make their own food if they like.
Breakfast cost 10,000 Ugandan Shillings ($3)
The restaurant is not open for serving lunch or dinner at the moment.
You need to bring your food from shore for making your lunches and dinners.
In the village about 10 min walk, however, there is not much to buy and no fancy restaurant.
